PET/PTI: physical and written preparation
Treat the official advertisement as the syllabus. Photocopy the physical standard table and pin it above your shoes. Social-media “expected cut-off” lists are not a training plan.
Step 1 — Extract the physical table
Make four columns: event, qualifying mark, attempts allowed, gender/category. If the advertisement uses a 1600 m run, do not spend six weeks only on 100 m starts.
Step 2 — Written paper
Many state papers still ask:
- Aims of PE and Olympic values — Olympism unit
- Methods of teaching a skill (whole, part, whole-part-whole)
- Fixture problems — event management
- Balance diet vs sports diet — nutrition unit
- Injuries — physiology and injuries and prevention article
Practise 2-mark definitions every evening for 15 minutes. Definitions win written papers.
Step 3 — Documents
Keep originals and two photocopies of: degree/marksheets, B.P.Ed or equivalent as required, caste/EWS if claimed, sports certificates if extra marks exist, photo ID. Names must match. See govt PTI page.
Eight-week split (example)
| Days | Physical | Written |
|---|---|---|
| Mon / Thu | Speed or test-specific event | 30 MCQs + error log |
| Tue / Fri | Strength endurance (push-ups, core, jumps) | One long answer from a previous paper |
| Wed | Easy run or game | Fixture numericals |
| Sat | Full mock of the advertised battery | Rest or light revision |
| Sun | Rest, mobility, sleep | Read one unit notes page |
Career context: PET career. Interview stage: interview questions.
